Evergreen Cemetery, Brainerd, Minnesota

Evergreen Cemetery is a medium sized cemetery located near the Mississippi River. It has almost 18,000 graves, the oldest of which is from 1866. There aren’t many large or ornate markers, but there are still some interesting ones.

There are some wonderful examples of Woodmen of the World markers here, as well as some other stones of interest. I took a picture of the Wintersteen stone because I have an old high school friend with that name, and you just don’t see it around much.

Information about the Pioneers stone can be found by reading the history of the Northern Pacific Railroad in Brainerd.

I found only one Lauer here (we are also somewhat rare), an infant that died in 1920.
