Ingredients
1/4 cup Orzo Pasta
3/4 cup White Rice
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 cups chicken stock or broth
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon tumeric
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried parsley
Directions
- Melt butter in medium saucepan over medium heat
- Add pasta and rice, and saute until the pasta starts to turn golden
- Pour in chicken stock
- Stir in the salt, tumeric, onion powder, garlic powder, and parsley.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and let cook for 13-15 minutes, or until rice and pasta are tender, and all the liquid has been absorbed.
- Turn off heat, and let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
Jon wants to know why do you use unsalted butter but then add salt to the recipe? Also we’re drinking your coffee while listening to your song.
I have been using unsalted butter for well over 15 years now because I want to be in control of the amount of salt in my cooking. I also switched to kosher salt many years back, at first because it was the “foodie” thing to do, but now I find that I can taste the iodine in iodized salt.
