My second trip to Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, my first to Oakland Cemetery in St. Paul. Oakland is listed as Minnesota’s oldest cemetery. Both are wide, hilly, tree-filled, and super interesting.
There’s a lot of money in the Minneapolis one. Vice Presidents, Congresspeople, Senators, celebrities, Captains of Industry, movers and shakers are there, and they all seemed to want a grandiose burial marker. I love the statuary, obelisks, and mausoleums, as well as the small, simple markers.
I spent over two hours in each place.
It was overcast when I visited Lakewood, so some of my pictures came out dark. My trip to Oakland was on a perfect September day, clear, calm, warm, and beautiful.
