Oakwood Cemetery, Red Wing, Minnesota

Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing, MN is big and beautiful. The entrance alone is worth the price of admission, which is free, and I didn’t take a picture of it… oh well. Anyway, there are over 12,000 graves there, the oldest of which dates from 1843. It is built on some beautiful rolling hills, and features towering oak trees, and an overlook vista that looks down on the town.

On the same day I also visited Lakewood Cemetery in Lake City, MN (where water skiing was invented). It’s small and flat, and has just under 1,700 graves. It wasn’t particularly interesting to me, except for this grave from the future!!!
